suomi kieli
Olen opiskellut suomea noin 10 vuotta.
Amateur radio
I'm an FCC Extra class amateur, operating under the callsign K3GHI. I'm not such a big fan of ARRL, but since I wanted to support the hobby I joined SRAL, the Finnish amateur radio society. Highly recommended for anyone interested in supporting the active Finnish amateur radio community. You get their color magazine several times a year, and occasionally there is an article in English.
I recently got APRS working on my analog handheld! Some high-end handhelds like the Kenwood TH-D75 have an excellent built-in implementation of APRS, while others like the Alinco DJ-MD5XLT and Anytone 878 are technically capable of APRS, but it feels incomplete and difficult-to-use. An analog handheld, on the other hand, knows nothing of APRS and relies on a computer and digital signal converter to make the proper transmission signals, as well as decoding any APRS transmissions the radio receives. It was very satisfying when things finally worked.
Virtual flying
FlyUK is a great virtual airline; if virtual flying is your thing, check them out at flyuk.aero. I hold the rank of Class A Captain and primarily fly the Dash 8 – Q400 for FlyUK and its subsidiary, Nordic Air. Nordic Air's focus cities are Bergen, Tromsø, Gothenburg, and Helsinki.
The Dash 8-400's powerful turboprops make it a fun and interesting plane to fly. I use FlyJSim's Q400 on X-Plane 12 and Majestic's for Prepar3D v6. There's nothing like learning to subdue this Thoroughbred of an aircraft to settle onto the steep 5.5-degree ILS glideslipe to London City, flaring and adding power at the right moment to grease the landing.
